Food Pantry

“If you offer your food to the hungry and satisfy the needs of the afflicted, then your light shall rise in the darkness and your gloom be like the noonday. The Lord will guide you continually, and satisfy your needs in parched places, and make your bones strong."  Isaiah 58:10-11a

“When a poor person dies of hunger, it has not happened because God did not take care of him or her.  It has happened because neither you nor I wanted to give that person what he or she needed.  We have refused to be instruments of love in the hands of God to give the poor a piece of bread, to offer them a dress with which to ward off the cold.  It has happened because we did not recognize Christ when, once more, He appeared under the guise of pain, identified with a man numb from the cold, dying of hunger, when He came in a lonely human being, in a lost child in search of a home.”– Mother Teresa

The Food Pantry is a joint Outreach Mission effort by the churches in the Grantville area.  The function of the pantry has been to distribute food and household products to families with demonstrated needs.  The pantry has expanded its mission to include preparing and serving one meal per month, at the Penn National Racetrack, and clothing distribution.  It is housed at  Faith U.C.C. Church located on Route 743, between Routes 22 and 81.

Shells volunteers' week to help at the Pantry is the third Wednesday, Thursday and Friday of every month.

Wednesday, (9:00 a.m.) is the unloading and shelving of the food.

Thursday, (6:00 to 8:00 p.m.) is to help in the distribution of the food to registered clients.

Friday, (from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 Noon) is restocking the shelves and distributing food to the clients.

The contact person is Marianne G.  She may be reached by email at http://www.shellsadmin@verizon.net

Let us not forget those less fortunate than us.  Our local food pantries usually run low on their food inventory during this period of time.   Thank you.
