During January and February, the Service Ministry is asking for donations of boxes of tissues (any size, any kind) ; which we will distribute to teachers, Shalom House, and Christ Lutheran Church medical outreach program.  It is a small but helpful step in the battle of the winter germs!  Please put the tissues in the basket marked “Service Ministry.” Thanks

When you add creativity to compassion, great things happen!  Here are a few examples of what other congregations have done.

Excerpt from CWS Website ~ Congregation Stories

Church remains dedicated to service, even in the face of tragedy

Even though Shells Evangelical Lutheran Church, Grantville, Pennsylvania suffered a fire in their sanctuary and social hall by an arsonist, they still collected donations for the CWS Blankets+ program and will be collecting donations for the tools project in June.

Shells' congregation "gets it" and reaches out to those in need no matter what!  Shells Church mission statement is: "We are committed to being God's presence in the Grantville area with a mission of evangelism and outreach that seeks to spread the good news in Jesus Christ, inviting all to join with us in the worship of our Lord.  We are committed to read, study, and meditate upon the word of God.  Through prayer and the guidance of the Holy Spirit, we are empowered to respond to those in need."

Responding to those in need is an integral part of Shells Church's focus and that includes Church World Service.

SHALOM HOUSE

We are collecting cleaning products (any kind) for Shalom House, a safe haven for women and children during a time of crisis. Please bring the items to Sunday worship in bags marked, Shalom House.  Members of the Service Ministry will pick up and deliver all bags to them.  Thank you.

 Pocket Prayer Shawls

The Service Ministry is working on Pocket Prayer Shawls.  They are intended to be carried in the receiver’s pocket.  While being knit, the knitter says a prayer.  If you are able to contribute to this ministry, it would be greatly appreciated.  Please place shawls in the Service Ministry box on Sundays at the East Hanover Township Building.  Thank you.
