PASTOR

The Rev. (Father) W. L. Barnes, III, STS was born in York, PA and is a 2014 graduate of York College of Pennsylvania with a Bachelors degree in Behavioral Science. He graduated with a Master of Divinity from United Lutheran Seminary (formerly the Lutheran Theological Seminary at Gettysburg) in 2018.

Father Barnes served Christ Lutheran Church in Duncannon, Christ Lutheran Church in Elizabethtown, and St. Paul Lutheran Church in Spring Grove while he was a candidate for ministry in the Lower Susquehanna Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. As of February 1, 2019, he serves as Pastor of Shells Evangelical Lutheran Church in Grantville, PA. Father Barnes is a member of the Society of the Holy Trinity (STS) and the American Guild of Organists. In 2021, he began serving as the Vice Pastor of St. John Lutheran Church in Hoernerstown (Hummelstown), PA. Father Barnes also serves on the Worship Committee, Nominating Committee, and Justice Task Force of the Lower Susquehanna Synod of the ELCA as well as the ELCA Churchwide Human Sexuality Reconsiderations Task Force.
